Crafts disappeared

seems like yesterday, but the trades described in the following photos have disappeared from Corropoli. The habit of doing everything by hand with care and has been supplanted by that of 'disposable and the use of mechanical means. Are we better?

start this series with pozzai.
Once in the area there were many people who were digging wells. Everything was done by hand. The drills were not used and the well was large. Today we dig wells mechanically small enough to hold the pump that sucks water. In the picture the Boni brothers, aided by workers and neighbors, have pulled out of a pit, a large stone. Another category of trades (missing), very common in Corropoli, was that of Funai.

Among them, the best known was Emidio Foschi. The photo with his wife and begins to shape a rope. (photo: Pasquale Rasicci)

Another craft disappeared is the Canton provincial or the "lane" as they prefer to call it. The work of these people had paid to keep the streets clean, to make them less dangerous to signal the presence of trees and, above all, to create channels for water runoff. With their dismissal on the streets in some sections have become a landfill, the trees - in many cases - were cut and the road lanes - during bad weather - become tracks for hydroplaning. In the picture the last shoemaker Corropoli: Leo Edwards, said Lale d 'Rincitt' . The throwaway fashion has decreed the end of cobblers. The advent of the crisis will determine their return? (photo: Livio Rosati)

In the last photo porchettaio corropolese. This is always pleasant when food was being prepared, cooked and Corropoli sold. Today, we are satisfied only Corropoli sale. Porchettai external Corropoli arrive on different days in order to satisfy the palates of its inhabitants. (photo: Victorian Crow)

In the picture we see washed (by hand) when the machines. We are in the late '50s and early '60s. This was a modern wash, well known in the area. To wash the background of a car was no longer necessary to go into a hole, but the car was raised. There were still rotating brushes and hand carinii Addezio work was certainly better than these. The car wash was located at the crossroads, near the train service API. (photo: Viviana Di Addezio)
